The Story of Rockpunzel

By Rudy Klahr
A lot of people ask me about the back story on how I came up with the Rockpunzel idea, so here it is…GetAttachment
Another Disney page was getting a flood of posts asking for people to give their pets a Disney name. As most of you know, I’m a wise ass and enjoy turning normal posts into something absurd. So I walked around my house looking for some type of ridiculous “pet” to post a pic of and request a Disney name. My son actually had a pet rock, so I posted a pic of a plain old rock and asked people to please name my precious pet. Like usual some people had a great time with it and others lost their minds and complained. One member suggested the name Rockpunzel and it just stuck. I realized that 20150927_115906_resizedpeople really enjoyed the idea, so I decided to add facial features, as an inside joke I used the face of a member who was posting a crazy amount of selfies. Everytime that person liked the pic I giggled to myself.
After the amusement of that wore off I decided to make her look more like a princess, so i stole the head off of one of my daughter’s Rapunzel dolls and started posting various memes using that. I wa20151002_145134_resizeds also using her Rapunzel toys as props. At one point we photo shopped her to have Rapunzel’s features, but I think it took away the funny look of the original so I bought her an antenna topper for a hat and dragged it all over Disney to meet characters. The expressions on the cast members were priceless, a perfect combo of confusion and amusement. This was a makeshift set up, so I used old chewing gum to hold the hat on. This caused a very funny situation when Snow White decided to kiss it! All we could think about is how overwhelming the smell of cinnamon gum must have hit her.
As the t20151025_171654_resizedrip went on my family actually started having fun with it. This surprised me considering my wife told me “you better not be bringing that stupid rock with you! ” right before we left. My daughter would laugh every time I took Rockpunzel out and handed her to a character. Even my Mother in Law was asking me if I was going to get RockP out for a pic.
When we returned home I decided she needed another make over, so I dragged my poor wife and kids all over to find the perfect doll to use for hair and facial features. I settled with a zombie Sleeping Beauty doll, that way it was still Disney related, but remained ridiculous looking. I’m sure I will change the look again, but for now when I look up over my desk and see her starring at me, it still makes me laugh like an idiot.
