Crazy for Disney started as a Facebook group three years ago when Rudy Klahr noticed that a lot of the Disney groups at the time were allowing negativity and bullying of their members. He decided to start a group with the help of his wife Dani Klahr and promote a group that was full of news, tips, laughter and a feeling of friendship and family. At the time Rudy had a pet rock named Rockpunzel that he would bring to trips and get pics of characters holding it, this proved to be very popular and the group grew quickly. Crazy for Disney is over 36,000 strong and has produced a number of subgroups like Crazy for Rundisney, Crazy for Disney Fit and Healthy, Crazy for Star Wars, Crazy for Disney TV and Movies and others. The sub groups provide the same love for Disney while promoting a fun and drama free environment. Our content includes coverage and reviews of special events, merchandise, ride and area openings, and new restaurants. We are always looking for opportunities to bring more of this content to our followers.

 

 A little over a year ago Rudy Decided to start a podcast called Crazy for Disney podcast with his friend/actor Danny McDermott. The podcast took off and became very popular with over 17,000 listeners in over 56 countries. Six months in we decided to Replace Danny McDermott with Dani Klahr and the family aspect of it was a really popular move and strengthened our listener base, we also added Orlando local Wayne Klahr as a man at the parks to get us news and info when we could not be there. The podcast has also joined forces with The Disney Nerds and Behind the Ears on occasion to raise money for charities, our podcast raised over $5,000 for the American Cancer Society and we helped Behind the Ears raise close to $4,000 for Give Kids the World. We have interviewed well-known Disney community members, including Kevin-John Jobczynski, RJ Ogren, Big Fat Panda, Terry Hardin Jackson, and Rudy Novotny. Our podcast can be heard through BlogTalkRadio, iTunes, Google Play, I Heart Radio, Podbean, and Spreaker, and can also be broadcast via Amazon Alexa.

 

 

 We are currently working on building a fan base on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, but we are a little late to the party. The Facebook group generates a ton of traffic with over 150,000 interactions every month and over 1,000 new members added monthly as well. We also have 2 meet ups every year at Disney that bring in over 200 member to strengthen the feeling of family and friendship with in the group. Last year we also decided to do a dessert part at Fantasmic in November that not only sold out the large patio in a couple days, but sold out the small patio as well. We have a nice diverse group going to the dessert party – friends, family, CMs, media peers, and DJs from an Orlando radio station.

 

 We couldn’t be happier with the amazing growth we have seen in the Crazy for Disney community and cant wait to see what the future holds in store for us.
