Masks at Disney Springs

Cast Member greeting guests in a mask

Disney Springs reopened on May 20th for a number of third party merchants, along with this reopening came a new set of rules for Disney guests to follow. Some of the rules included socially distancing, temperature checks and some type of face mask (mask, bandana) to cover your mouth and nose. The first two rules seem to have been embraced, but there has been some push back to wearing a face mask while visiting the area. Now the reasons have varied for not wanting to or being unable to wear the masks in the Florida heat, I have heard people with asthma and other medical conditions state that they can’t breathe with them on and I have heard people come right out and just say they didn’t find it comfortable.

Now I can sympathize with the people that have a legitimate medical condition, but as for the others, please just follow the rules and do your part in making other guests feel safe. As I have discussed in our Behind the Ears podcast, I don’t feel like I need a mask, the social distancing makes me feel more than comfortable, but I also am well aware that the majority of the people there do not share my opinion (including my wife and daughter), so I will wear it with that in mind. On top of all this, it is now a rule and I would never put a Disney cast member in the position to ask me to put one on, they have enough to deal with, no need to add babysitting into that mix.

So if you plan on visiting Disney Springs please be considerate and follow the rules that Disney has put in place, it might not be ideal, but isn’t worth it to get back the place we all love so much?
