Disney Charging Annual Passholder for Closed Months 18

Some people checking their bank accounts are finding a unpleasant surprise from Disney. It appears that they are charging pass holders for 3-4 months in one lump sum. Now it is my understanding that these are charges for the months that they added to the expiration date on your passes, but a little heads up would have been nice. I assumed they would just charge you at that monthly rate during that time, so I suggest you guys check your bank statements .

Please comment below and let us know how you feel about this and you could win a great prize. We will also be talking about this on The Behind the Ears Podcast on Wednesday night at 8PM est.

UPDATE!!!

We reached out to Disney and have been told that this was a glitch and they are in the process of making refunds. We were not told how long this would take or if they would be responsible for anyone experiencing over draft fees.

I haven’t gotten anything yet we will see. I think we should have at least been given notice it was coming. They did extend the passes so it is a perk but I don’t think they should just blindly take money out especially with everything going on. People may not have the money in the account.

I’m actually upset over this because they are charging all together and technically the parks are still closed, which I thought they were waiting till they reopened so it’s a bit upsetting.

It sounds like they are trying to play catch up on the money they lost while closed. We asked for a refund as Canadians with a younger child travelling to Disney is not happening for a long time.

This was not what I signed up for. We have been charged in June and July. My pass still shows expired and husbands is valid. I don’t have 3 hours to spend on hold. I am so DONE!!!

My passes have not been extended but I did get a lump sum charged to my bank account today from Disney. So I got screwed twice!!!

It is unsettling to hear about this. Disney has not done the best job on keeping pass holders informed with how the passes will be extended or just end on the regular expiration date. I have not been charged yet, but my boyfriends credit card was this morning and that was a surprise that we were not ready for. Good to hear that you were able to get in contact with someone at Disney and they are processing returns.
    Thank you,

They charged me also and almost overdrew my account. It’s safe to say I will NOT be renewing my passes. You would think Disney would have had this all figured out before they allowed this “glitch” to happen.

Everyone needs to have faith, trust, and pixie dust right now. Although we are used to the world being crazy right now…we need to believe that they have our best interest at heart.

I was very surprised when I saw this charge today. If I’m going to get extra months for this then I’m ok, but if I’m being charged for months the park was closed that’s not ok. I’m more than willing to pay for what I can use, not considering black out dates. I’m excited to get back and if this is what it takes I guess I’ll accept it, but some notice would have been great.

Inexcusable for Disney to SCREW passholders with an ‘error’ of this magnitude! At a time when a great many people are struggling just to feed their families, a mistake like this is inexcusable! I’m dropping my passholder membership as soon as possible to get away from Disney!

With the money they have made off of me over the years, it is just WRONG. Might just cancel. Fed up with ridiculousness from a company that is worth billions, and has the audacity to do that. Walt is rolling over in his grave!

If your passport is on the monthly payment plan–>Unless you opted to continue your payments, Disney is not going to charge you for the missing months. Why? Because they are also not extending the annual passes. For our inconvenience of not having park hopping privileges or even the guarantee of park admission, they will add one month to our original expiration date. You do have the option of cancelling your passport with no penalty, but I am sure you will not get your renewal discount if you do that. So far it has taken so long to get through to talk to them, I have not spoken to a person.

If your passport is paid in full–>They are adding days for every day the park was closed and also adding the extra month for your inconvenience of not park hopping or park admission guarantee.

My problem with all of this is that adding only one month is a drop in the bucket. It was a nice gesture but with the limitations they have given us in using our very expensive annual passes we should have gotten at least 4 to 6 months with the number being subject to change if things don’t get better fast. I mean does anyone believe that we are going to see a reduction in the price of our annual passports when they come up for renewal.

Wait ! I thought they were adjusting so they would NOT be charging for the months they were closed ? Man that sucks !!!! I would be upset if I were an AP holder. We work too hard for our money to have to pay for months that weren’t available to use .
